Peterstown Elementary School Counselor

Hello, my name is Regina Spencer and I am the school counselor at Peterstown Elementary School.  I have been teaching at PES for 17 years, six years in special education, one year as a reading and math specialist, and 10 years as a music teacher.  I graduated with a BS in Elementary Education in 2001 and have 45 hours of graduate studies in Special Education and Reading Specialist.  In the last two years, I have served as the school counselor while working on my Master's Degree for Licensed Professional Counselor.   I was born and raised locally and attended PES as a child myself! My husband John and I have been married for 17 years and have raised our four children in Ballard, West Virginia.  I am thrilled to be working with the students at PES as an advocate to help guide them in their social-emotional development through empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard.  I enjoy collaborating with professionals, school staff, and parents to provide the best support for my students possible.  My main interests in the field of school counseling are providing strategies and mindsets to help students overcome adverse childhood experiences through Individual, Group Counseling, and Classroom Guidance.
